Pigeon Forge, TN – January 2012 / Hospitality 1ST / On Jan. 13, Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede in Pigeon Forge, Tenn., welcomes guests to the first performance of the popular dinner attraction’s 25th anniversary season which includes plans to recognize the 25th, 250th, 2,500th and 25,000th guests throughout the year with special prizes and celebrations, culminating with a grand prize giveaway for the 250,000th guest.

“I’ve always said that time flies when you’re having fun, and that truly applies to my Dixie Stampede,” Dolly Parton said. “Over the years, some incredibly talented performers, those with two legs and those with four legs, have thoroughly amazed audiences with their talents, and our 25th anniversary season will be no exception!”

Billed as “the most fun place to eat in the Smokies,” Dixie Stampede features a friendly rivalry between the North and South in a battle decided by various competitions of equestrian skill. Performed in a 35,000-square-foot arena with seating for 1,000, Dixie Stampede features 32 magnificent horses, including quarter horses and palominos, and their talented riders who guide them through barrel races, flame-engulfed hoops, trick riding, and pageantry.

The entertainment builds to a patriotic finale featuring “Color Me America,” a song written by Parton especially for the show. Other highlights include pig races, illusions and a four-course meal consisting of a whole rotisserie chicken, hickory smoked barbequed pork loin, Dixie Stampede’s original creamy vegetable soup, a homemade biscuit, corn on the cob, herb-basted potato, Dixie Stampede’s own specialty dessert and unlimited beverages.

The show also features the thundering hooves of more than eight tons of buffalo which are showcased in a special segment entitled “Stampede of the Buffalo.” Audiences are reminded of a time when herds of the majestic animals roamed the open plains of the unsettled Western frontier.
